About Dr. Yohananoff

Alberto Yohananoff specializes in forensic assessments in a variety of litigation categories including child custody, parenting evaluations, juvenile delinquency and competency matters. He has earned a reputation for comprehensive and balanced evaluations. His reports are valued for their careful recommendations, grounded in insights from direct interviews, psychological testing modalities, and data gathered from collateral parties.

Dr. Yohananoff has also functioned as a consultant to attorneys by assisting attorneys in the preparation of cross-examination notes of expert witnesses and by reviewing peer products. Dr. Yohananoff is multi-lingual, and has performed forensic assessments in English, Hebrew and Italian.

Dr. Yohananoff provides expert testimony in Family Court and Supreme Court in New York City, Nassau and Westchester counties. He has been previously affiliated with the faculty of New York University and with the faculty of NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Medical College of Cornell University.  He presently serves on the voluntary faculty of North Shore University Hospital. Over the years Dr. Yohananoff has engaged in a variety of didactic activities, which have included the teaching of a graduate course in forensic psychology at the City College of New York since 2010, a presentation at the New York Lawyers’ Association on Preparing Clients for Child Custody Evaluations (February 2012), and most recently a presentation at the 50th annual Association of Family Court and Conciliation (AFCC) in Los Angeles on International Custody (May 2013.)

Dr. Yohananoff is appointed to the Mental Health Professional Panel, First and Second Judicial Department in the State of New York. He is a member of AFCC, of the American Psychology-Law Society, of the New York State Interdisciplinary Forum for Mental Health and Family Law and of the New York State Psychological Association, and its forensic division. Dr. Yohananoff has been recently selected to serve on the board of the local chapter of AFCC in New York.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Yohananoff has previously served as the Coordinator of the Forensic Program at North Shore University Hospital. He has also served as a Senior Psychologist in New York City Family Court Mental Health Services.

Dr. Yohananoff obtained his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University, and completed his internship at the Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Yohananoff completed post-doctoral training at the Yale Institute of Psychiatry and at the Institute of Psychiatry, Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
